April 11th NSO Concert at Union Station a Huge Success!

On April 11th from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, as part of the National Symphony Orchestra’s In Your Neighborhood event series, the NSO had a wonderful, free concert in the Main Hall at Union Station. The performance, which was conducted by new Music Director Gianandrea Noseda and featured violinist Nurit Bar-Josef, consisted of the following repertoire:

BEETHOVEN – Finale from Symphony No.3 in E-flat major, Op. 55
FALLA – Suite No. 2 from The Three-Cornered Hat
MASSANET – “Médiation” from Thais
BRAHMS – Hungarian Dances Nos. 1, 3 and 10
ROSSINI – Finale to William Tell Overture
SOUSA – The Stars and Stripes Forever

BERNSTEIN – “Mambo” from West Side Story

USRC would like to thank many organizations and individuals for helping make this concert a reality:
• All the people who came to the concert to enjoy the amazing music;
• The NSO orchestra, Director Gianandrea Noseda, and featured violinist Nurit Bar-Josef;
• Warren Williams, NSO’s Manager of Community Relations;
• Michèle Jacobs, event planning consultant, for acting as the go-between for NSO and the station;
• The Union Station Special Events team for storing the musicians’ instruments;
• Starbucks for providing free coffee to attendees;
• Big Bus, which had two kiosks relocated during the concert;
• Thunder Grill for allowing videographers and photographers to use their space overlooking the Main Hall;
• ICC for removing the Main Hall benches and cleaning up before and after the event;
• PSC and Amtrak Police for providing security during the performance; and
• All organizations that promoted the concert.
