The Shanghai No. 3 Girls High School Concert Band, representing the only public high school for girls in China, was established in 1991 by conductors Cao Peng and Yu Xianming. Trained in wind band music of symphonic style and scope, the band promotes arts education and follows the school’s motto of “independence, ability, care, and elegance”. The concert repertoire will include both American and Chinese selections. The band will be in DC as part of the Serenade! 2017 – A JFK 100 Celebration and will also be performing at the Kennedy Center and Patterson Park in Baltimore.
