National Cherry Blossom Kite Festival
Rediscover the joy of kite flying on the Washington Monument grounds, at featured parks, and at home in 2022. The Blossom Kite Festival is a long-standing DC tradition encouraging attendees of all ages to fly kites among the cherry blossom trees. The iconic outdoor event is fun, free, and open to the public. This year will feature both virtual and in-person options so you can fly your kite from your favorite neighborhood park or anywhere across the globe. Regardless of how you celebrate spring, join by flying a kite during the last weekend of March.
Choose a location to fly your kite on March 26th or 27th:
• Washington Monument grounds
• Featured parks around the Washington, DC area, including Alethia Tanner Park in the NoMa area on March 26th from 10:00 am t0 3:00 pm (a full list is available here)
• Virtual workshops you can watch to learn how to make and fly kites
Register to Compete:
By March 24, 2022, submit your beautiful homemade kite into the Kitemaker’s Competition that takes place on the grounds of the Washington Monument. This year’s theme is Rediscover Spring.
