Yet Another Successful Earth Day with NASA Event

On April 22 and 23, 2019, Union Station’s Main Hall was host to the sixth annual Earth Day celebration with NASA. At this great, free, public event, children and adults learned about space and science through multimedia stories of discovery, hands-on activities, and amazing technology.

Additionally, USRC had a table which people could visit to learn about the station. We shared information on the history of the building, upcoming events, station tours, and restoration and expansion plans. On Tuesday, April 23rd from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, there were some very special guests, Sergeant Micah Jones and Staff Sergeant Summer, a K-9 unit of the Amtrak Police Department. Summer, an 8-year-old female Labrador Retriever, is in the running for an American Humane Military Hero Dog Award, so we encouraged all who stopped by to vote for her. May 2nd is the last day of voting in the first round, so please help Summer win well-deserved recognition.

USRC would like to thank all the NASA employees who organized the event, prepared exhibits and presentations, and imparted knowledge to interested participants. We would also like to extend our thanks to everyone who stopped by the Main Hall to take part.
