On June 23, 2017, USRC hosted a Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) group in Union Station. Taking part were 27 young women from Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, DC, Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington who are all interested in STEM-related careers. The participants were selected through an application process by their WTS chapters. Additionally, there were 26 chaperones/mentors from the academia, construction, engineering, and transportation sectors. USRC staff gave an overview of Union Station and their career paths, after which they gave the WTS group a tour of the station.
